Meet Black Dog Built

Brian McLean
Owner/ General Contractor
Black Dog Built assists in all aspects of the renovation process, from design through construction. Projects ranging from a guest bathroom upgrade to a full home renovation, will be treated with innovation, craft and creativity. With a background in construction and sculpture, I will refine your home’s style, with structural integrity and aesthetic detail.
I have a Master of Science degree (M.S.) in Construction Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and a Bachelor of Fine Art (B.F.A.) in Sculpture from Georgia State University. I have been in the construction industry for my entire professional career, ranging from single-handedly crafting artisan doors, to more recently overseeing multi-million dollar renovations as an Assistant Project Manager in Minneapolis, MN prior to starting Black Dog Built in 2019.

His sculptural background lends itself seamlessly in his well-rounded design and build talents, and his friendly demeanor makes him fun to have on the job!

Nate Bauman

Sculpture and Industrial Design were the perfect blend of study for our detail specialist, Nate. Meticulous craft haunts him and benefits you! Forever curious, Nate will problem solve methods of construction with a harmonious blend of creativity and precision. This quiet storm will get the project done, and done right!

Kelly O’Brien
Designer
A trained sculptor (starting to sense a theme here?) specializing in installation art. Installation art is an artistic genre of three-dimensional works that are often site-specific and designed to transform the perception of a space. This skill translates into some exciting interior design! Kelly will energize your space, creating drool-worthy environments. She’ll make your space look really freaking cool!
